How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning, and evaluation stages?

In the evaluation process, I used different technologies to present my answers.

-VIDEO
I used Final Cut Pro and YouTube to present my audience feedback answer. I decided that filming my audience would be best as their opinions are more easily communicated when they speak aloud, and they can refer back to images of my ancillary tasks and film on the screen in front of them. Editing the feedback video was easy due to the software I used and the format I made it in.

-PREZI
Prezi is a really simple and attractive presentation method. It gets the point across easily and clearly and I could separate each of my points into separate parts of the presentation.

-MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
Powerpoint can be saved into the .png format, which means I could upload each slide as an image and put it on my blog like above. This makes everything attractive and easier to read and is better than just typing out the whole answer.

-SLIDESHARE
Slideshare is another method of uploading Powerpoints to Blogger- it enables the reader to move each slide along and saves a lot of room on the blog post.

In what ways does your media product use, develop, and challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

FILM POSTER

While my short film is mostly unconventional, my poster follows a vaguely conventional format in that it has ratings at the top, billing blocks on the bottom, and the main attraction in the middle. However this is where convention ends with my poster as I related it heavily to my short film and so used artistic styles and an experimental design to make it. I challenged conventions of film posters by joining the images and text together; in conventional posters, the text is layered over the main image. For mine, I put the text inside the film title which is a unique approach to poster design. I developed the ratings conventions by using a colour scheme for them that stands out against the rest. My poster reflects conventions and genre mixes in my short film so they link together very closely.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I have used a variety of ways to use, develop, and challenge conventions in my film and ancillary tasks. Using an experimental genre approach meant my work crossed multiple genres and I was able to use, develop, and challenge conventions of all, which made for a more interesting film. Using examples such as "Amelie" and " Bodysong" gave me a chance to experiment with typical styles as well as using my own.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

In conclusion, hearing detailed audience feedback has made me see that my film, poster, and double page spread are all closely linked and are effective in promoting my film as a combination. Both people in the video appreciated the similarities between my pieces as it is obvious to the audience that they are linked, however each has their own style at the same time which is also effective in keeping the avant garde theme going.
